RAJASTHAN : THE BEAUTY WITHIN – A Blurb book

Explorenation’s biggest book yet is now available on Blurb.com

A 200-page, 12in x 13in monster of a book! You’ll need a bigger coffee table! Hardback and in full colour.

RAJASTHAN : THE BEAUTY WITHIN is a compilation of the group’s photographic tour to the region of northern India covering Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Pushkar and Jodhpur, from 10 -21, November 2010.

I had a great time reviewing everyone’s photographs and recounting some hilarious moments whilst preparing the layout. It was truly a awesome trip despite being rough at the edges at times. Thank you to all who came along and whose works are represented in this tome!

HOTLA family portraits : A Blurb book

In Jaipur recently, a make-shift portrait session was organised in the village where the Hotla family form the Dhanka tribe lived. We befriended Ram Hotla, our auto-rickshaw driver and he invited our photography group to meet his family and relations. I suggested to capture the portraits of all his family members, and on the 14.11.2010 a Sunday morning, they came out posing. Here is the result of that morning’s shoot.

Happy New Year 2011 !

We would like to thank all our participants and friends for your support in 2010, and we hope to be able bring more coaching sessions to you, making the process of learning photography fun.

Tomorrow sparks a new dawn of the next decade. For explorenation in 2011, Andy and I are planning a new series of workshops, with Cuba and Rome for the first half of the year.

Just quickly posting this photograph taken at dawn in Pushkar, at the camel festival, during our recent workshop to Rajasthan. I particularly like the mood and the setting of this image and its depiction. These are camel breeders come together once a year to these barren hills outside Pushkar, about 150 kms north of Jaipur, bringing with them over 30,000 animals, camels and horses too, to trade. Pushkar opened my eyes in many ways, to new experiences only gained through the act of travel and being there. No matter how many guide books I read about the festival, it does not really do it justice.

Stay focused!

Rajasthan : New Videos added

The ‘Intrepid 9’ traveled across some difficult roads and terrain by vehicles and camels even, and returned with some amazing images. Thank you again to all of you for joining Andy and I on our Indian adventure. The ride was a bit rough on the ‘edges’ at times but now that we are all rested, let the images speak for themselves!

Exhibition @Fiumano Gallery, London

09 Sept 2010  : Fiumano Fine Art Gallery in London hosted some 25 images from our Alumni group of photographers, showing photographs taken during past workshops from Borneo, Paris and London. It was a great evening and our members proudly showed off their hanging works to close friends and relatives. Alicia Peters brought home made curry puffs which all disappeared as quickly as they arrived! (More photos over at our Facebook page )

Pakistan is suffering from severe flooding due to the monsoon rains. 1/5th of the nation is under water.

At least 1,500 are known to have lost their lives, and millions are homeless, and hungry.
